Colorado Road-Trip 2010

So we weren't sure what to expect for our first road-trip with Weston, but overall it was a success. There were definitely some bumps in the road, like a huge temper-tantrum at the restaurant in Crested Butte, the loud screaming whenever Weston didn't get his way (not only from mommy :), and the 2-hour rocking-to-sleep incident while camping at the Sand Dunes. But the car-rides were mostly enjoyable, as Weston slept most of the time, Wheaton behaved himself, and the scenery was amazing!

You'd think that 2 people who have lived in Colorado most of their lives would have been to these great places, but apparently we thought if you've seen one mountain then you've seen them all. Not true. Crested Butte's landscape was gorgeous which we were able to enjoy from the ski lift. Telluride was a quaint, little town with a free Gondola ride to the top of the mountain-base that was home to neat little shops and restaurants. In Durango, we stayed on a friend's cattle ranch where we were given the royal treatment with wine and a huge steak dinner. And the Sand Dunes were almost unreal with their random location in the middle of mountains, but were very beautiful to see.

And I can't forget to mention all the yummy beer we were able to enjoy! That probably made things seem less stressful. Funny how that works...

  1. Denille! These pics are great! We never made it to Telluride and I always wanted to go. It looks like you guys had a great time. I really like the one with you in the red shirt by the waterfall. Great family picture, and those are really hard to get!
